Welcome to Nursing History Nova Scotia

The Nursing History Nova Scotia Society was formed by nine interested nurses from various nursing schools in 2009, and led by Gloria Stephens. The Society has met continuously and has grown in membership, with nurses of various backgrounds, experiences and life stories.

The Nursing History Nova Scotia Society is committed to locate and record the history of Nova Scotia’s nursing profession (some of which were the first in Canada), provide profiles of our members (and preserve their legacy), inspire present and future generations in the preservation of nursing history, and network with nurses of professional organizations. We honour Nova Scotia Registered Nurses who made a significant contribution to patient care and the profession.
